Hello Reader,
Holiday Time!
At least it used to be for the Chevraux family. We usually headed to Radium for a 2 or 3 week break. Not so anymore. Not since Covid hit and not now that I am tied to the store every day that it is open. So it means we have more time to quilt and to plan classes and general quilting days.
The Tip Line:
When choosing the fabrics for a quilt, be aware of the contrasts and try to choose lights, mediums and darks instead of all one or the other.
I have been doing several one-on-one classes with customers who have fabric they are not sure what to do with and want
help. So far versions of the Nine Patch Pizzazz have proven most popular but kaleidoscope quilts, T-shirt quilts and applique projects have also been in demand. If you have fabric that you would like to use but are unsure of what or how to
do it, let us help.
Go to our website for more details on classes!
Classes |
We are also open to group classes and would love to offer one in Applique techniques, or Ways to Preserve History, and the use of photos in quilting.
Again let us know if you are interested in any of these or have your own ideas you would like to explore with us.
Quilting Term of the Day
Cake Layers: Fabric that is cut into 10” squares. These can be bought pre- packaged in many quilt stores.
It is Mystery Quilt time again. This month we are sending you Clue #6. By the time you have completed it you will have a stronger notion of what the completed will look like but, I hope, still be experiencing a small sense of mystery.

Hello Reader, Welcome to August I can’t believe it. It’s August already. July is in the past and what a tumultuous month it was. For us it began with a hail storm on July 1 st which wiped out many of our fields and damaged almost everything else including our house, our buildings and our trees. But it did put an end to the drought. We have had several rains since then, providing moisture to help the crops that are left to grow. And giving us some hope that our water reserves will be renewed....
